For a woman , it is very important to have healthy reproductive system. Many girls have pain during periods which is not due to any disease . Day to day stress leads to loss of desire , dryness of sexual organs. After pregnancy , many women suffer from failure to have lactation. This may be due to malnutrition or due to stressful life. Mother`s milk is very important for the health of the baby and right from the 1stday , children should get mother`s milk. Mother`s milk increases the immunity of the baby and ensures healthy growth of the baby.
Female health : Ostrogen is a very important for women`s health. Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ,WithaniaSomnifera , Ocium Sanctum and TinosporaCordifolia which help in healthy reproductive system.
Asparagus Racemosus in Lubdha : Increases sexual desire. Moistens dry tissues of the sexual organs . Enhancedfolliculogenesis( Follicle formation in ovaries ) and ovulation in animal studies.Post pregnancy tonic by increasing lactation . Asparagus Racemosus( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) has been used only clinically and shows oesterogenic effects in adult virgin female mammary glands and genital organs of rats. A significant increase in size of the breast and teats has been reported, further histological study of breast tissues showed hyperplasia in some animal studies The effect is being hypothesized due to the phytoestrogens
Problems related with menstruation: Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) contains saponins which hinder the oxytocic activity on uterine musculature, thereby maintain the spontaneous uterine motility, confirming its utility in dysmenorrheal which comprises of painful menstruation without significant pelvic pathology
Post Partum tonic: Asparagus Racemosus( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) is termed as stanya i.e. galactogogues. A significant increase in milk yield has been observed along with increased growth of the mammary glands, alveolar tissues and acini. A group of researchers studied Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus )for its antidopaminergic activity with a working hypothesis, that therapeutic effects, of shatavari like galactogogue , may be due to an active principle containing dopamine receptor antagonistic activity because Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) produced similar effects when compared to metoclopramide, a dopamine receptor antagonist. The growth of lobuloalvelar tissue and milk secretion in the estrogen primed rats was thought to be due to the action of released corticoids or prolactin
Lubdha and effect on Female Reproductive Organs & Breasts : A Double-Blind Randomized Clinical Trial for Evaluation of Galactogogue Activity of Asparagus RacemosusWilld. A significant rise is serum follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) is observed with AsparagusRacemosus in animals. This randomized double-blind clinical trial evaluates its galactogogue effect in 60 lactating mothers by measurement of changes in their prolactin hormone ( Hormone responsible for milk secretion ) level during the study.
Mothers’ weight, Babies’ weight, Objective satisfaction of mothers, Well-being and happiness of babies were studied to corroborate the primary findings. , The oral administration led to more than three-fold increase in the prolactin hormone level of the subjects in the research group as compared to the control group. ,The primary findings were corroborated by the secondary outcome measures and were found to be statistically significant
Evaluation of increase in prolactin hormone level : The mean prolactin hormone level of the subjects showed a percentage increase of 32.87 with Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) while the control group (group C) showed a percentage increase of only 9.56 ± 4.57
Evaluation of secondary outcome measures
Weight of the mothers : During the study period, the weight of the mothers showed a mean percentage increase of 3.78 in Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) while the mean percentage increase was 1.37 in control group.
Weight of babies : The average percentage increase in the weight of babies was 16.13 Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus )and 5.68 in control group.
Satisfaction of mothers regarding the state of lactation : Showed an average increase of 1.5 inAsparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) and 0.48 in control group.
Overall well being and happiness of babies: The other secondary outcome measure, was also rated by the mothers just before and after the study period. This parameter showed a mean increase of 1.27 in Asparagus Racemosus ( Lubdha contains Asparagus Racemosus ) and 0.29 in the control group Evaluation of the galactogogue action of the roots of Asparagus racemosusWilld. during clinical trial on lactating mothers having symptoms of deficient lactation exhibits significant galactogogue activity in comparison with the control group without any significant acute toxicity effect.
